Machine Description
Big Hit was one of Gottlieb's last electro-mechanical pinball machines released during a pivotal transition period in pinball history, just before the industry-wide shift to solid-state electronics. The baseball-themed machine captured the essence of America's favorite pastime during an era when sports-themed pinball machines were particularly popular.
The machine featured classic EM gameplay elements including pop bumpers, drop targets, and rollover lanes arranged in a baseball diamond configuration. The playfield likely included baseball-themed artwork and scoring features that corresponded to baseball achievements like singles, doubles, triples, and home runs. As with most EM games of this period, it utilized chimes and bells for sound effects and featured the characteristic clicking and clacking of mechanical score reels.
