Creature from the Black Lagoon, released by Midway under the Bally label in 1992, represents one of the most beloved and innovative pinball machines of the early DMD era. Designed by John Trudeau with art by Kevin O'Connor, the machine brilliantly captured the essence of the 1954 classic Universal monster film while incorporating a unique 1950s drive-in theater theme.

The machine's most distinctive feature was its groundbreaking holographic display, which created a three-dimensional effect of the Creature emerging from behind the pinball playfield. This was complemented by a sophisticated DMD animation system that displayed classic movie clips and custom animations. The gameplay centered around a drive-in theater experience, complete with synchronized audio snippets from the film and period-appropriate rock and roll music, including a custom-recorded version of 'Rock Around the Clock.'

Gameplay innovations included the 'Snackbar Multiball' feature, a unique 'Drive-In' theater shot, and various monster-themed targets and objectives.
