Data East's 'Star Wars' pinball machine, released in 1992, represented one of the first major pinball adaptations of the iconic film franchise. Coming during the renaissance period of pinball in the early 1990s, this machine capitalized on the enduring popularity of the original Star Wars trilogy, which had concluded less than a decade earlier.

The machine featured extensive use of authentic Star Wars imagery, sounds, and music from the original trilogy. The playfield design incorporated key elements from the films, including a Death Star toy target, a TIE Fighter spinner, and a lightsaber-themed ramp. The dot matrix display showed animated sequences featuring X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and other iconic Star Wars vehicles and characters. Voice clips from the original films, including Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, added to the authentic Star Wars experience.

Gameplay centered around completing various movie-themed missions, including the famous Death Star trench run and battles against the Empire.
